Abstract

Among fungi isolated from specimens of Zinnia elegans L. dying due to rotting of the stem base and root neck the most frequent were Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Fusarium culmorum, F. solani, F. oxysporum and Alternaria zinniae. Alternaria zinniae has been found to very harmful to these plants. The fungus harmed the root neck and stem base and caused formation of spots on above-ground organs, especially on leaves. Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Fusarium culmorum also proved to be very harmful, especially for seedlings.
