Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of sugars in the seeds of soybean cultivated in Poland

Abstract


The content of sugars (hydrolysable and soluble: mannose, sucrose, raffinose and stachyose) and of protein was determined in 42 seed samples of soybean cultivated in Poland in 1977, 1978 and 1979. Beside inter-variety and -lines variation in sugar level, year-to-year changes were observed. The tendency of negative correlation between hydrolysable sugars and protein content mentioned in the literature is confirmed.
