Abstract
Ceriporiopsis gilvescens (Bres.) Domański producing white rot in wood of deciduous trees is the type species of the genus Ceriporiopsis Domański. In order to complete its generic description, the culture of the fungus was examined and its species code established. Interfertility studies, with single spore cultures isolated from sporophores derived from three sources in Poland have shown that the fungus is heterothallic and has the tetrapolar type of interfertility. It gives also positive reaction in the test for extracellular oxidase In this connection (1) these characters have been introduced in the description of !the genus Ceriporiopsis, and (2) the species Poria placenta (Fr.) Cke sensu J. Erikss. is excluded from this genus
