Leonard Widera, Ewa Trenkner

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish if in the diseased internal organs of the Greenland halibut - mainly liver and kidney - it is possible to find Cryptococcus fungi and of the presence of these fungi corresponds with the pathologic changes in these organs. The incidence of Cryptococcus fung in the aquens of Labrador and New Founland in see fishes may be an index of these organismes in the sea water. Psychrophilie Cryptococci were found in the kidneys and livers of Greenland halibut caught in these regions. The presence may be correlated with the pathological changes found in these organs.
