Investigations on carotenoids in fungi II. Genus Amanita

Abstract


The author used column and thin layer chromatography to determine the occurrence and quantitative relationships of particular carotenoids in fruit-bodies of fungi of the genus Amanita. 8 species were examined. 40 carotenoids were found to be present, 32 of these were identified. Numerous carotenoids were demonstrated for the first in fungi.
