\nOn the basis of review paper of Schiifer and Haupt [28] examples of independent influence of blue and red light on growth, chloroplast movements and metabolism of plants, as well as their interaction have been considered. Subsequently, the resulting statements were supported by detailed experimental studies [3, 4,5,8,9, 10, 11,13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 29]. The section referring to UV was based on the synthetic paper of Wellmann [32] and on subsequent thorough experiments [2, 12, 16, 17, 18,30,32,33,34]. The most interesting are results of investigations on the influence of UV on production of cell sap pigments protecting plants against 'the UV-caused damages, Alphabetically arranged list of papers makes easy finding of a particular paper provided with number in order of quotation.

\nStan prac nad „Atlasem rozmieszczenia ro\u015blin naczyniowych w Polsce” (ATPOL) na koniec 1989 roku [State of work on the „Atlas of distribution of Vascular Plants in Poland” (ATPOL) at the end of 1989]

\nPrevious information about a progress of work on the „Atlas of distribution of vascular plants in Poland” refered to its state at the end of 1985. During the last four years additional floristic data were collected (about 350.000 data). Distribution of Urtica dioica<\/em> (Fig. 2) illustrates covering Poland by the floristic data for common species. The editorial work on 500 maps will be finished at the end of 1990. A new program, which permits to generate a flora of any cartogram unit from the data, has been written. In the future this program will greatly facilitate floristic work in Poland. Atlas of the German Federal Republic was used as a comparison material for the present state of work in ATPOL (Fig. 1). Also expected state of data in ATPOL until it is ready to print, is presented.
