The symbiosis reality: Eukaryotes are holobionts not individuals

Serdecznie zapraszam w dniu 17. czerwca na seminarium prof. Douglasa Zooka, które rozpocznie się o godz. 12.15 w bibliotece Katedry Botaniki WRiB SGGW, budynek 37, II piętro sala 2/99, ul. Nowoursynowska 159.

Prof. Douglas Zook wygłosi wykład pt: „The symbiosis reality: Eukaryotes are holobionts not individuals”.

Komentarz Autora: “This is an exciting time in symbiosis, even to the point where some in the States and elsewhere see a ‘new’ science revolution emerging in that the individual organism is best recognized as an ecosystem“.

Douglas Zook o sobie:

„My original research many years ago was on the protist Cyanophora paradoxa and the symbiotic origin of plastids including work at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. I also studied with the late pioneering lichenologist Vernon Ahmadjian at Clark University, USA. I was a student, friend, and then colleague of Lynn Margulis for over 30 years and continue to teach her original Symbiosis course at Boston University. I was the President of the International Symbiosis Society for 10 years and I have led trips on global ecology themes to remote regions of the Amazon, as well as to New Zealand and other areas. I am now in my 26th year at Boston University and my work there has also involved promoting motivating science teaching at all levels.”
